I beg to differ. I can operate my phone quite well and not even remember doing it lol. Although, you just shouldn't be driving drunk so that you have to avoid the checkpoints.

why is it that the media constantly confuse PHONES with OPERATING SYSTEMS. the headline screams "Windows phone to top iPhone".....
THEN the chart shows they are comparing OPERATING SYSTEMS. It's important to remember that Apple's phenomenal market share is accomplished on ONE handset (yes it gets updated every year, but there's only ONE iPhone) compared to dozens and dozens that run Android and (maybe someday) Windows Phone 7.
I still doubt it, but regardless, no SINGLE PHONE will come anywhere near the iPhone.

The very fact that all laptops contain mercury in their displays, the very fact that apple is one of the only computer companies that no longer sells mercury-laden CRT screens (As mentioned by another in an earlier post Thank you DELL!) makes this a complete and utter wank.

IMO, progressive does not equal big government. In fact, progressives and conservatives probably want the same overall size, but weighted in different directions. Social vs Defense.
Then you can look to the future when computers/machines have taken over a vast amount of the tasks that humans used to do to earn a living. What kind of system will work then? My guess it that it will be closure to socialism the capitalism. ;)

All Apple have to do is take the old cube, and integrate the ease of expandability of the existing Mac Pro, add the missing fan, and some other fans inside, and we suddenly have a computer that is able to cool some seriously hot hardware, and will cause a small thermonuclear explosion if you ever put a book over its top vent.
I have decided that I think it is highly unlikely that a kentsfield will find its way into an iMac, however I hope I am mistaken. Very much hoping the Mini Mac Pro is created.

But there is also a reason AIDS has taken over there the way it is, and it's only partially to do with poverty. AIDS has exploded in that population, because it is a population that is extremely traditional, rudimentary, and in many ways archaic. There are many wonderful things about the African people, but there were also many wonderful things about the Dinosaurs, the Dodo bird, and numerous others.
Please don't take this to mean I'm equating the people of Africa with wild animals. I'm not. But in many ways, the people of Africa are in the situation they are in because they have not evolved the same way as most of the world, and in that respect, they are paying a price. Yes, it is our responsibility as human beings to try and help people in need, and that is a wonderful thing. But at the end of the day, if we did nothing, there would still be a small percentage of African people who will survive this epidemic, and they will be more educated and elightened than the ones who do not.
Much in the way that forest fires, although terrible in some respects, are essential to the rejuvenation of the population and ecosystem in that area, so too are epidemics and catastrophes. And this not a bash-on-Africa comment... the Black Plague was the same idea. Too many people, living in too close quarters, with too little regard for health or wellbeing. Millions died, but many survived, and the ones that did were smarter and wiser for it.
The people of Africa are not necessarily as helpless as the may seem from the outside. They just have a different culture and mindset than Western people do. Right or wrong is not for us to decide, but adapting to nature is part of life on Earth... and sometimes that means that large numbers of people or animals die, needlessly or otherwise. Just my two cents.

If you're listening Apple, I'm interested in the iPhone. I buy my phones outright and I'm not interested in changing carriers (currently on T-Mobile). So you better sell it yourself and hardware unlocked.
I could bet Aplle experience is done by the hardware/software/channel tied. Looking at the iPod + iTunes + iTunes Store, I'm pretty sure they would use their own Virtual Mobile operator channel, tied with their phone...

My family's general philosophy (in regards to driving) is be aggressive and intimidate people who try to screw with you; it always results in you winning (it also helps when your uncle presides over the traffic court in town).

USB 3 will likely become more popular. I hope that doesn't happen. I'd rather have PCI-E speeds than USB speeds.
Perhaps TB will go differently than FW did. Apple has a more significant market share now than they did when FW was introduced. Plus, they're being smart by letting Intel take the lead in promoting TB.
What will make or break TB is peripheral support, and real world performance. Can USB3 keep up with a current SSD, even? If performance is notably degraded with USB3 and the ports both exist on the computer, and the peripherals are the same cost ... TB should do fine.
Personally I'd like to see USB stop at v2. Keep it for a while like we did PS/2 ports for keyboards & mice, but let's roll out modern technology when we can. USB3 hasn't gotten much of a foothold in the two years since it was released, so let's ditch it while we can and go with something much better.

The free market would suck if it were run in the way your brain imagines it. But imagine if you ran a company, and your chief goal is to make a profit. Having happy employees who are payed fairly and receive vacation days, benefits, etc, is definitely a better business model than working your employees like slaves.
Benefits shouldn't be government regulated. However, the slave labor that you describe should most certainly not be allowed, duh. Try cutting back on the straw man argument some.
It's humorous that when people imagine a free market, they ignore that in a free market, employers would be fighting for good employees as much as employees are fighting for the employers.
It's sad that the government is the largest charity, because it's just so darn inefficient. I have an idea. Private charity.
For all the bleeding heart liberals I've spoken with over the years, who want crazy amounts taxed in order to support social uplift programs, I never see any of them giving away 50+% of their income to charity. It's a lot easier to ask the government to give other peoples money to charity.
I can tell you right now that my family gives >50% of its total income.
However, if you think that taxes = charity, what incentive do you have to give? (to the organizations that are 90+% efficient rather than whatever the crap the government is)

So Apple's method could be more efficient their side, offering a spotify type model where everyone accesses the same iTunes purchased track (except this time they own it) instead of Amazon's where each indivdual track is stored in their "digital locker"?
